SHWMAE / HELLO
I’m a Welsh ecologist and Rights of Nature campaigner with a background in ecology and environmental biology. My work focuses on nature policy, conservation, and environmental governance, with a particular interest in making these spaces more inclusive, transparent, and fair. I’m especially drawn to participatory approaches to nature recovery that put people, place, and culture at the heart of decision-making.
I’m a first-language Welsh speaker and a proud Cardi, and I love exploring the connections between local culture and the natural world. I firmly believe that good conversations can change things, and I’ll always say yes to a story over a paned and a good sandwich, ideally with a view. When I’m not at my desk, you’ll usually find me near, on, or in the water, the place I feel most at home.
I work in nature policy within Wales, supporting the development and delivery of more effective and inclusive approaches to nature recovery.
Alongside this, I work as a freelance consultant on a range of nature and sustainability projects in Wales and internationally. My work engaging stakeholders across Wales in conversations about nature recovery was recently recognised with a Green Heart Hero Award, part of the UK’s leading climate and sustainability awards.
Alongside my professional work, I hold several advisory and governance roles, including Vice President of Reserva: The Youth Land Trust; Chair of the Advisory Council for National Trust Cymru; member of the EU4Ocean Advisory Board; Trustee of Small World Theatre and Biosffer Dyfi UNESCO Biosphere; member of the Wales Council for Outdoor Learning; and representative for UK Youth for Nature.
